 Who is eligible to take the 38-hour course? 

Great news! You are eligible to take the 38-hour course if you are in the 8th grade or above and at least 14 years and 9 months old. 

How are the 30 hours of classroom instruction given? 

The 30 hours of classroom instruction are taught over four class days. The comprehensive classroom instruction spans 30 hours and is expertly delivered over four class days with unwavering confidence. Class hours are from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. with ample time for two 15-minute breaks and a 30-minute lunch break. Trust us to prepare you with the skills and knowledge you need to excel. The hours are usually 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. with a 30-minute lunch break each day, and 2 15-minute breaks.

What happens after I complete the teen driver education program? 

 You will be given the documentation (sealed envelopes) to take to the Office of Motor Vehicles to apply for your Learner's Permit or take the Road Skills Driving Test (you can take this assessment with us for an additional fee). 

 Who is eligible to take the 14-hour course?

 Anyone at least 18 years and older is eligible to take the 14-hour course. 

How are the 6 hours of classroom instruction given? 

The six hours of classroom instruction are taught in a single class day. The hours are usually 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with a 30-minute lunch break. The class is also offered over two days, usually taught from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm. 

What happens after I complete the driver education program? 

Upon satisfactorily completing the 14-hour course, you will be given the proper documentation to take to the Office of Motor Vehicles and apply for a driver's license. 

How are the 8 hours of behind-the-wheel instruction provided? 

For inexperienced drivers, the eight hours of behind-the-wheel training are usually provided in four lessons of two hours each.  For the experienced drivers, the eight hours of behind-the-wheel training can be provided over two days in four-hour increments depending on availability and skill level.

When can I schedule drive times? 

The driving lessons are given seven days a week, from 8:00 AM until 8:00 PM, to accommodate each student's busy schedule. 

Do I have to provide my own vehicle for the behind-the-wheel lessons? 

No, all behind-the-wheel training takes place in one of our properly equipped and insured driver's education cars 

 MUST APPLY FOR A TEMPORARY INSTRUCTIONAL PERMIT (TIP) BY GOING TO THE STATE OFFICE OF MOTOR VEHICLES (OMV) IF YOU ARE APPLYING FOR A LOUISIANA STATE DRIVER'S LICENSE OR LEARNER'S PERMIT NO MATTER WHAT AGE.

Must go to the Office of Motor Vehicles and obtain a Temporary Instructional Permit (TIP) for Driver's Education.

MINOR STUDENTS (14 years to 17 years old) - items to bring every time a minor goes to the OMV

• Original or State Certified Birth Certificate (no photocopies) and another primary document or two secondary forms of identification (Please see Policy 6.00 under Section 1 Driver Licenses. For Aliens Temporarily Residing in Louisiana see Policy 6.02
• Social Security Card
• School Enrollment Form - The student must be at least in the 8th grade. This is obtained from the student's public or private schools. Home school students use the annual approval received from the state school board.
• Original or Court Certified Custody Papers (if this pertains)
• Legal Custodial/Domiciliary Parent/Guardian with their Driver's License or State Identification Card

ADULT STUDENTS (18 years old and older)

• Original or State Certified Birth Certificate (no photocopies) and another primary document or two secondary forms of identification (Please see Policy 6.00 under Section 1 Driver Licenses. For Aliens Temporarily Residing in Louisiana see Policy 6.02

• Proof of residence (Two proofs of residence if applying for a Real ID)

Note: If an adult has a valid Louisiana State ID already issued and their Social Security Number is in OMV's system, then only the ID and Proof of Residency are needed.
